Despite a report in the Korea Times on Monday quoting a Samsung Display executive as saying that Samsung would stop shipping displays to Apple next year, the Korean based tech giant has refuted the quote and says that the strange relationship between the two will continue. Obviously, Apple and Samsung feel at ease with each other regardless if it's in the courtroom or in the boardroom.
"Samsung Display has never tried to cut the supply for LCD panels to Apple."-Samsung spokesman
The report earlier Monday in the Korean paper said that because of discounts, Samsung was not earning enough money from sales of its displays to Apple which led to the decision by Samsung to stop shipping product to the Cupertino based firm. Samsung, denying the entire story, has requested that the Korea Times edit it. Both sides are at each other's throats in a series of court battles around the world. As a result, Apple has said that it wants to end its reliance on Samsung for certain critical parts that go into products that Apple competes against Samsung with, such as the processor and displays for the Apple iPhone 5 and the third generation Apple iPad.
Apple has been looking to source displays from LG and Sharp and recent water cooler talk has the company replacing Samsung with TSMC for chips.
