iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S - the Review

With the launch of the new iPhone 5, many smartphone users, especially those who bought the iPhone 4S recently, have been left wondering whether it would be worth it to buy Apple’s latest device. To find out which of the two phones is better, we need to compare some of the similar features.

iPhone 5 vs iPhone 4S Review
The iPhone 4S next to the larger iPhone 5

For starters, the difference between the size of the iPhone 4S and the iPhone 5 is minimal-a 1/2inch vertically and over 1 inch in depth. Apple’s newest addition, the iPhone 5, is longer, thinner and has a longer widescreen display (16:9) as compared to the iPhone 4S.

With regard to design, both of these devices look amazing. The iPhone 4/4S has one of the best designs on any phone so far though it is rather easy to break due to the glass panels placed at the front and back. The iPhone 5’s design has somewhat remedied this problem as it has an aluminum panel at the back. In addition, its appearance is much better than that of the iPhone 4S because the finer points of the device and its overall shape have been devised with accuracy giving it a more stunning look.

The iPhone 5’s A6 ARM chip processor has the same design as that of the iPhone 4S though it has numerous modifications. These modifications make the phone’s processor better giving it an edge over the previous models. As for its camera, the iPhone 5 has disappointed many of its customers because the update on it is very slight. It still has the same lens speed and megapixel rating as that of the iPhone 4S. The only difference is the lens glass, which is important though not what was expected. And of course there is still the the issue of Purple Flares on the iPhone 5! However, here is a comparison that does show that there is some improvement from the previous model:

Another disappointing feature on the iPhone 5 is the flash memory storage. The cost to install flash storage on the phone is still very expensive and it hasn’t changed much since the previous models, going as far back as the iPhone 3GS. Therefore, for those who require faster data speeds and are on the Verizon network, it would be advisable to purchase the new iPhone 5. For users on AT&T and Sprint, it is recommended that you stick to the iPhone 4S until the next iPhone launch as it is not that different from the iPhone 5 as far as most users are concerned and educated.

Of course, you can always let it all go to hell and get the GooPhone I5, the iPhone 5 clone for $300 in China! Hahaha!

Oppo Find 5 With A Full HD 5-inch Screen Leaks

The Oppo Find 5 has a 5-inch screen of FullHD resolution with a narrow 3mm bezel. It runs on 1.5Ghz Qualcomm's APQ8064 quad-core chipset with 2GB RAM. The aluminum unibody has a thickness of merely 6.9mm and the 12MP camera with a Sony backlit sensor allegedly doesn't bulge at all.
The phone is powered by a mighty 2500 mAh battery and also comes wityh jellybean preinstalled.
Oppo Find 5

The Oppo Find 5 will be available in 16GB and 32GB versions, priced at 3000 Chinese yuan (about US$475) and 3300 Chinese yuan (about US$520) respectively. Those are unsubsidized prices, but the Oppo Find 5 is reportedly coming with support for GSM and UMTS (with HSPA) networks, so it's compatible with China Unicom's network. This is also good news if you are planning to get one imported to Europe or America, as there are plenty of carriers to support those standards there.

Google Gets Its First $14B Quarter

Image representing Google as depicted in Crunc...
Google

Google's Q3 results came out earlier than planned and since they didn’t meet Wall Street's expectations, the company's shares dipped and trading of the stock had to be suspended temporarily. Google's shares ended the day 8% down.
While not what analysts expected, Google's third quarter wasn’t that bad. The search giant had its first $14 billion revenue quarter (a 45% increase year over year), helped by revenue from Motorola.
Net income was $2.18 billion, down from the $2.73 billion of last year's third quarter. Google's ads saw a 33% increase in paid clicks, but the price of those clicks was 15% lower than in Q3 2011. The reason behind the drop is the increasing share of mobile ads, which are cheaper.
Anyway, Motorola had a rough quarter. Its revenue was $2.58 billion, but it posted an operating loss of $527 million ($505 million of which was lost by the mobile phone department).
You can get more details on Google's financial performance from their full press release.
