How To Take Photos While Video Recording In Iphone 5

Often it happens that we don't record a video, fearing that then maybe we can't click photos .Then you have a tough decision to make.Do you stop filming, snap the photo and go back to recording, or just miss out on it altogether? Well, if you own an iPhone 5 you can now do both. Yes,the iPhone 5's native camera app has the ability to snap a photo while you're recording a video.

While recording, you'll see a camera icon on the screen. Tapping on it will snap a photo without interrupting the video.

The photo is then saved to your Camera Roll. The only downside is that any photos snapped while recording a video are taken in the iPhone 5's 16:9 aspect ration, with a size of 1,920x1,080 pixels. So you'll be missing out on the same quality you've come to expect from the camera on the iPhone, but the quality is still moderate.

Shutter Speed On Nokia 808 Pureview

The Nokia 808 PureView, with its monstrous 41 MP camera  is considered to be the best camera available on a smartphone at present. Since the release of the device, the closest that we have seen to 41MP on multiple models is the 13MP shooter seen on some devices like the Sprint variant of the LG Optimus G and some newer Sony models like the Bondsian Sony Xperia T. Of course, a large MP size doesn't necessarily guarantee outstanding pictures as so much more goes into the making of a great picture.

How fast (and slow) can you make the shutter on the Nokia 808 PureView?

One important part of a good camera is a fast shutter. Just how fast is the shutter on the Nokia 808 PureView? A gentleman that goes by the name of Rehmanhere on Flickr decided to find out. Even though he had enough light to snap the picture during daytime, he decided to turn on the powerful Xenon flash. He increased the ISO to 800 which in the old days when people actually used something called "film", meant that faster action could be captured. ISO 800 requires 1/8th the amount of light to capture the same image as an ISO 100 setting would demand. He also took the exposure down to -4.0. The result ?Well,it produced a shutter that took the picture in 1/2747 of a second.

What about the longest shutter time? That would appear to be the 2.7 seconds achieved by a Mr. Sheridan. The later says that the ND filters that come with the phone are not sufficient to do the job. So he uses various Hoya filters, a tripod and two elastic bands for his long exposure pictures. It might sound kinky, but if you check out the sourcelink, you can see how it is all done. He also suggests using flowing water as a subject.

So there you have it, the long and short shutter times for the Nokia 808 PureView. No, 41MP won't automatically make you an artist, but the technology offered with PureView will help you take pictures that you will cherish forever.

GoPro's new Hero3 comes in three flavors starting at $199

GoPro's new Hero3 Black Edition is lighter, faster, higher res and has builtn WiFi

At a San Francisco launch event GoPro has just revealed the next addition to its line of action cameras, the Hero3. The Hero3 claims specs that are 30 percent smaller and 25 percent lighter than its predecessor, with a resolution that's up to 4x higher and it has WiFi included. The top of the line Black Edition (pictured above) is capable of capturing video at up to 4K res -- if you're willing to drop the framerate down to 15fps -- however thanks to a processor it says is 2x faster, it has also doubled frame rates at lower resolutions. That means 1080p60, 1440p48 and 720p120 modes are supported for your super slow and still-HD capture needs. The Silver Edition maxes out at 11MP stills and 1080p30 video, while the White Edition drops down to 5MP stills. All three versions include WiFi (no BacPac necessary for remote control via the just-released-on-iOS app) however the Black edition includes a remote that can control up to 50 cameras at once with a 600ft range and is waterproof to 10 feet deep. It will also be available as a $79 accessory for the lesser versions.

As far as pricing, the Black Edition is $399, the Silver is $299 and the White $199. Pre-orders are scheduled to start at 12:01AM PT (3:01AM ET), and there's a handy counter on the GoPro site if you otherwise might forget. The variety of models and ubiquitous WiFi may help fight off competition at the pricing low end like the new ContourROAM2, among others. Naturally we were in the house and will have hands-on pics and impressions soon, check after the break to check out a list of specs.

ContourROAM2 Launches On October 21,Shooots 1080p Videos For $199

Contour launches Roam2 in red, blue, green and black, shoots 1080p video for $199

The Contour+2 may be the best digital action camcorder on the market (though Sony and GoPro aren't gonna agree), but the company knows not everyone wants a $400 shooter to capture their epic runs this ski season. Thus, Contour has introduced the ROAM2, a $199 model that records 1080p 30fps and 720p 60fps video on its included 4GB microSD card. Like the original Roam, it can capture clips up to one meter underwater without an external case, has a 270-degree rotating lens and a laser level to line up your shots. This new Roam, however, sports improved image quality and an aluminum skin of four colors: black, red and blue will be widely available, and green models can be had exclusively from Amazon through the end of the year (other retailers will carry it in 2013). Best Buy and other retailers will start selling them on October 21st.
