One thing that remains constant with smartphones is that over time, their prices will drop.
This is true with the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. When it was first launched by Verizon last December, it came with a hefty price of $299.99 with a 2-year contract. Since then, there have been some major price cuts, with it being reduced to $199.99 back in April, followed by $149.99 in June, and then $99.99 in July.
Now Verizon is offering the Samsung Galaxy Nexus for a low $49.99 with contract. Most likely, Verizon wants to sell-off their remaining stock of the device (which was never a hot seller), as newer phones are about to hit this holiday season, such as the Motorola DROID RAZR HD and MAXX HD, HTC DROID Incredible X, and the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Does the new lower price of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus entice you to buy the only current Verizon smartphone with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, or are you waiting for one of the newer smartphones to come out?
