4 Windows 8 Video Ads Launched

Microsoft recently released 4 new Windows 8 video ads.The video ads are global and are going to be aired in 42 countries joined by printed ads, outdoor posters as well as their online counterparts to help boost user awareness and quick adoption of Microsoft’s latest computer OS.

The advertising agency responsible for the videos is Crispin, Porter and Bogusky and here’s what the agency’s Chief Creative Director Rob Reilly had to say about the ads.

We selected music from up and coming bands. We didn’t want to use overly popular songs because we wanted to bring the viewer on a journey of discovery, both through the storytelling and the music that accompanies these stories. Sometimes, as in “Express Yourself,” by Labrinth we found a new take on a classic old song, much like the reinvention of Windows.

LG is doing better than expected in mobile, and has gone back to profit from being a loss-making company in the third quarter of last year. LG’s Mobile Communications Company division benefitted from good sales of LTE smartphones in Korea, Japan and the United States. The Optimus L series conquered new markets, also adding to the sales boost.

And best of all, LG has a positive outlook for the next quarter as well. That would be the Holiday quarter and LG has got one of the hottest devices out there, the quad-core LG Optimus G, bringing unmatched hardware muscle and being one of the most competitive offerings now.

Ipad 3 Replaced By Ipad 4

Yesterday, Apple announced the new iPad mini but along with that also introduced a fourth generation iPad, just eight months after the third generation model was announced earlier this year. The fourth generation model comes with a faster A6X processor that doubles the CPU and GPU power, faster wireless connectivity and the new Lighting port.

Naturally, if you bought the third generation model recently, you’d be feeling a bit jelly. But if you happened to have purchased that model in the past 30 days, you just might be in luck.

According to CNET, some of the Apple Stores will replace your third generation model with a fourth generation one if you purchased it in the last 30-days. Unfortunately, this is not a company-wide policy so not every store is doing this right now but Apple Stores are generally very good when it comes to customer service so you should definitely go try your luck.

How To Repair A Broken Iphone Screen

Crack the front panel on your iPhone and you have three choices: live with it, buy a new one, or get it fixed.
If you have AppleCare+ or another warranty that covers accidental damage, the choice is easy. Get your phone fixed or replaced under the warranty. If your iPhone isn't under warranty, you don't want to buy a new one, and you're ready to tackle a challenging, but satisfying, do-it-yourself fix, here's a guide for replacing the entire display assembly.

Caution:  I should point out is that if you’re phone contract is up, you’re better off just getting a new phone.  If you’re stuck on contract  it may still be worth the extra cost to have Apple fix because the repair will be warrantied. But if you’re on a budget, or like to tinker, then going the DIY route is an excellent challenge. But you have to be very good in handling TINY screws and the patience to take something apart and put it back together. This tutorial is for Iphone 4.It should work on Iphone 4S as well.

That said don't panic.So lets start .

1.Getting Replacement Items & Necessary tools

If you decide to tackle this fix, you'll need to get the necessary replacement parts and tools. As the iPhone's front panel and LCD are fused together, I suggest buying both as a single unit. You'll find them for between $70 and $120 online. Just be sure that you buy the right one for your phone.

As for tools, you'll need a few thin metal blades, a plastic spudger or case-opening tool, tweezers, a Phillips #000 screwdriver, a tiny flat-head screwdriver, and a special pentalobe screwdriver, which you'll use to remove the phone's tamper-resistant outer-case screws. Again, you can pick these up online if you don't have them.

2.Back Up Your Data

The first step is to back up all the iPhone's data using iCloud or iTunes, just in case something goes wrong. You'll also need to eject the SIM card using the eject tool or a paper clip.

3.Remove Back Cover

With those tasks complete, you can open the iPhone by removing the two screws located on the bottom edge. As noted above, you'll need a special pentalobe screwdriver for this task.

Then, slide the back cover upward and lift it off.

4.Remove Internal Components

Before installing the new display assembly, you'll need to remove most of the iPhone's internal hardware, starting with the battery.

Remove the battery connector screw and disconnect the connector from the motherboard. Carefully remove the tiny pressure contact located under the connector, noting its location and position for reassembly.
Pull up on the battery's plastic pull tab, and it should come loose from the frame.
Next, remove the metal shields that cover the upper portion of the motherboard and the docking connector cable. As you remove each screw, note its location. The screws are different lengths and will need to go back into their original positions.
Now, disconnect and remove the rear camera and then detach all the cables along the top and side of the motherboard. You'll need to gently pry the docking connector cable away from the metal shield underneath.

Remove the hidden motherboard screw located under the round white sticker near the battery pull tab, the screw under the docking connector cable at the bottom, and the metal standoff from the top near the headphone jack. Then remove the motherboard, lifting up from the bottom.

Lastly, remove the speaker enclosure and vibration motor. (Note: The location of the vibration motor will vary depending on the phone's model and carrier.)

5.Remove The Broken Display

Finally, we can turn our attention to the broken display assembly. It's held to the metal frame with 10 screws: 3 each along the two sides and 1 in each corner. You'll need to remove them all, keeping track of the washers under the 6 side screws.

Once the screws are removed, carefully insert a thin metal or plastic tool between the metal frame and front glass panel along either the top or bottom edge and gently pry the panel loose. (Note: Do not insert the tool too far or you may damage the phone's other internal components. And if the glass panel is cracked, take care not to injure yourself during the removal process.)

As you pull the panel away from the phone, you'll need to thread the two attached cables through the metal frame.

6.Put The New Display

First, remove the plastic film from the back of the display, if it has one. Then carefully thread the display cables back through the frame, making sure not to crimp them in the process.
Gently press the panel onto the frame and secure it with the appropriate screws and washers.

7.Put Back Your Precious Iphone

To reassemble the phone, work your way back through the previous steps. Start with the vibration motor, then install the speaker assembly, motherboard, rear camera, motherboard shields, battery, and finally the back cover.
As you work through the process, be careful not to damage any of the small metal contacts on the cable connectors, speaker assembly, or battery connector pressure contact.
As do-it-yourself fixes go, this one isn't too tough. It does, however, take patience and attention to detail.

I hope this helps.

Ipad Mini Anouunced

The Apple iPad mini rumors have been around for quite some time, but it finally went official. Apple has just introduced the latest iOS tab – the 7.9-inch iPad mini.

The late Steve Jobs famously slammed 7-inch slates for having no real-life application, but it seems Apple has changed its stance on the matter as the iPad mini is now a reality. It packs a 7.9-inch LED-backlit IPS screen with a resolution of 1024x768 pixels – the same as the first and second 9.7" iPads. This time around the pixel density goes higher at 163ppi thanks to the smaller display.

The iPad mini is powered by the older generation Apple A5 chipset we already met within the iPad 2 which has a 1GHz dual-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, PowerVR SGX543MP2 graphics and 512MB RAM. The new Lightning port introduced with the iPhone 5 is here too.

The iPad mini also features a 5MP (iSight) rear camera capable of 1080p video recording. A 720p front-facing FaceTime camera is onboard as well.

As usual, the iPad mini will be available in black and white and will come with 16, 32 or 64GB non-expandable memory

The Apple iPad mini will go on pre-order next week with market availability scheduled to start on November 2. The base model costs $329, with the 32GB and 64GB version going for $429 and $529, respectively. The Wi-Fi+Cellular model pricing starts at $459 for the 16GB.
